Jennifer L. Johnson-Thomas is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a professional Sex Coach for individuals and couples, recognized for her expertise and eclectic style of therapy. Her distinguished work combines evidence-based practices with Holistic approaches, focusing on improving the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness in primary care and enhancing the health of patients with serious mental illness in behavioral health settings.

Jennifer’s journey in mental health counseling began after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Jacksonville State University. She initially worked in the Gulfport School District for nearly 13 years, gaining valuable experience in various roles, including teacher assistant, student aid, and record clerk, which deepened her understanding of the educational sector and community dynamics.

The impactful experience of Hurricane Katrina catalyzed Jennifer’s commitment to the mental health field. She advanced her education with a Master of Science in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University. After completing her internship, she furthered her career at Rehabilitation Services of New Orleans. Now, Jennifer is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Mississippi and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Florida.

In addition to her counseling roles, Jennifer’s expertise as a Sex Coach offers unique and specialized guidance to individuals and couples, addressing a wide range of intimate and relational issues. Her personal affirmation to her clients emphasizes self-care and resilience: “When you think you have nothing else to give, and it feels like you’re pouring from an empty container, just know that You are worth the fight. You don’t owe the world anything, but you owe YOU everything. It’s ok to be selfish. Selfish is being able to take care of the physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional self.”

Jennifer specializes in Couples Counseling, ADHD, Sexual Dysfunction, Intimacy Coaching, PTSD, Reiki (Level 1 and 2), Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, and Mood Disorders. Her therapeutic approach includes Emotionally Focused Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Therapy, Couples Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Systemic and Family Psychotherapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Experiential Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Relaxation Therapy.
